Pageant Fundraising Tips That Work using Go Fund Me
By now, you may have already heard about fundraising platforms such as Go Fund Me. This is a great idea which seems simple, but will only work to its potential if you remain consistent and effectively promote it. Here are 5 tips that will help you become a successful fundraiser using Go Fund Me.
1. Create a dream team. The NBA did it, you can, too! A dream team is a group of close family and friends who will commit to help you and your daughter achieve her pageant or other goals. Recruit the help of people like small or large business owners, people who are good at communicating (you know that one aunt who posts something on Facebook every 15 seconds...get her!). Have them be your core of people that post and share just as much as you'll be doing.
2. Set Weekly Goals. So, your overall goal may be to raise, let's say...$3000.00 in three months. That appears to be very attainable. However, you may want to take it a step further and break this up into weekly and monthly more attainable chunks. Use social media to communicate your progress and solicit help from everyone to get over the next hurdle.
3. Post often. Have you ever counted the number of times in a 3 or 4 hour period you've seen the same car or fast food commercial on TV? Do it. I betcha it'll be more than once or twice! This is a marketing strategy that successful companies do to keep their brand at the forefront of their target audience's minds. The same goes with fundraising. You must be consistent with spreading your message or else, people will just forget.
4. Don't just post to solicit money. Every post does not have to be an "Ask". Share your story of your pageant journey in general. Warm the hearts of your potential supporters. Include stories of your involvement in the community or your platform work. Give potential supporters a reason to join your cause.
5. Share and Tag on Social Media. Social media is your friend! Use your social network to share, tag, post as often as necessary. Be sure to set your posts to "public" so that friends of friends may also see and have an opportunity to donate.
6. Set up sponsor levels and offer services in exchange. Instead of just asking for money, why not use your (or the contestant's) talent to strengthen relationships in your community. For example, donate:
$25 I will call you on your birthday and sing you a song
$35 I will bake you one dozen cookies
$100 I will make an appearance at your church/school event and speak about my platform
However you choose to do it is up to you. The possibilities are endless. You can even set up an online raffle or silent auction for gift baskets or tickets to an event to make it competitive.
That dream gown and airfare ticket can be paid for if you just put in the time, effort, and creativity and apply these tips. Stay positive and you will reach your goal!
Envision your reign.
