NAM Iowa Recap: Formal Wear

Iowa as the season opener started out with a bang! These top contestants gave everyone else some very good competition!

Teen: When I first saw the Iowa Teen Queen's gown before crowning, I knew it was a winner. It's long sleeved which most girls won't have, the red is an amazing color on her, and it's simple and elegant. I was surprised to see a black gown make Queen's court, (black can age a contestant, plus not really the image of NAM) but it looks gorgeous on her.

Jr.Teen: The judges really liked blues and reds! Again, the gowns are amazing. Very stylish and stunning yet age appropriate and conservative, very big at NAM.

PreTeen: My favorite gowns out of the PreTeen court are the two pinks (1st and 3rd RU) I love the stoning and cut out design at the top.

Jr. Pre Teen: I love the full ball gowns. All of the girls look amazing.

Princess: Aren't they adorable? I'm happy to see that the trend has moved away from those ruffle tiered gowns. They used to be so popular, but I've noticed they are not making Queen's court as frequently as they used to at NAM.

So, if you're a newbie or aging up and still wondering what contestants are wearing, to go long or short, what judges seem to like, what scores high, then here's a good look. Just remember, the girl should outshine the gown. And she should love her gown. It helps though, if you're able to steer her in the right direction.
Envision your reign.
