If you are looking for a coach to help you or your daughter succeed in pageantry, here is a list of my top six questions to ask during your search.


 1. How do you provide feedback? Feedback is paramount to improvement. A good pageant coach will provide ongoing feedback to the contestant. An awesomely fantastic coach will provide very specific and immediate feedback in each area of coaching in written format so that there is a record of progress over time (and so the client doesn't forget it!) This way you can be assured that your coach tailors the coaching journey specifically for your daughter and that she is receiving personalized services.

2. What is your specialty? You need to know this because each coach is unique, as are the needs of your daughter. You may need a coach to concentrate on modeling or stage presence versus interview and communication skills. Be sure to match the area of need to the coach's greatest strength.

 3. What services do you provide other than coaching sessions? A good pageant coach will offer a variety of services during coaching sessions. An awesome one will supplement coaching sessions with services that the contestant can benefit from outside of one on one coaching sessions like homework assignments, group classes, and video lessons.

4. Are you available for consulting services in addition to coaching? A good pageant coach will answer "Yes." An awesomely fantastic one will offer unlimited consulting services, making themselves available to answer any questions you have in preparing for the pageant.

5. How do you build confidence in your clients? Confidence is key to winning any pageant. A good pageant coach will have specific tactics, resources, that they regularly use for their clients. 6. Do you have references? Any great coach will have testimonials or reviews that you can read or people to contact directly. Don't be afraid to ask for them.

The first thing I can tell you is...relax! It's super simple and fun! Here are 5 tips to be sure you're not stressed and have fun at a National American Miss open call: 1. Arrive Early! You've got approximately 30 seconds on stage, which doesn't seem like a lot, but you can pack a powerful routine in that amount of time.
