Suit -vs- Dress Debate

Image
The natural pageant world is going through a transition, a shift, if you will, on style. What's  "in" what's not, what's appropriate, what's over the top. For about three years or so, we've seen a shift in interview wear from two-piece suits, to dresses in all age divisions. So, the question is: Should my daughter wear a suit or a dress for her next pageant? At one point, two-piece suits were all the rage from Jennifer Roberts knits to custom made shantung silks to off the rack Kaspers. The problem with that, however, is that they are either super expensive, or impossible to find, which forced people to go custom made (which can also be expensive and risky). Today, you'll find many contestants placing and winning in the less expensive alternative with off-the-rack options from Dillard's to Nordstrom. You have to be cautions though, because there are so many options when purchasing off the rack, you can end up buying somethi

She Lost. Now What?

Brooke and her daughter at her NAM Pageant Make the decision well before the pageant finale to celebrate the small successes. When you do this, there’s no way she can lose. Winning at pageantry is not always about the crown and banner, or winning it all. Its about confidence, growth, overcoming fears, making life-long friends, and being your personal best. When you go into a pageant with a “MUST GET CROWN” mindset, you’re likely setting yourself up for failure. In reality, there is only one person that will win the crown. Strive for excellence, and be grateful for what you have. Set a goal to be the best possible version of yourself and aim for that in every aspect. If you do that, you've won! Envision Your Reign

For pageants like NAM, MAC, and UNM, you want to go with something simple, yet styled. The general rule of thumb is to keep her hair away from her face. This way the attention is on her, not her hair. Other than that, your possibilities are endless. Well, almost. What you Should Know About the NAM Volunteer Service Award

Image
Damacia Howard receiving her award for her service with Books for Africa The Volunteer Service Award is among the most prestigious recognitions a girl can receive in a pageant. It recognizes and celebrates a contestant’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to community. Recipients often have hundreds of hours of documented community service that can be traced back three years. This is exciting because it encourages community involvement and service to others, something that many people outside of the pageant world do not realize. In fact,  pageant contestants who are very actively involved in their community go on to become representatives of their state or country largely due to their service work. Robin and her friend both received the Volunteer Service Award at their state pageant Jada received her volunteer award among many others for her work with various organizations in her community Madyson received the volunteer service award for her dedication to bre
