Breathe. It’s a new ride and you’re going through the motions...and sometimes those (e)motions can feel like a rollercoaster. Find a network of other pageant moms to gain valuable feedback and advice from others who have been there. Try not to take up too much time defending your pageant mom status. Everyone won’t understand! What’s important is that you are doing a great service to your daughter because you know it will help grow her confidence and life skills. She’ll thank you for it later. Take the opportunity to bond and get to know your daughter on a level you could not have imagined. Use your new pageant mom status as a chance to teach your daughter goal-setting and perseverance. Most importantly, HAVE FUN. Fantastic years lie ahead.

How to Get Your Daughter Ready for a NAM Open Call

Once you've received your invitation in the mail, questions will start flying off the top of your head. What's good to wear? What will be expected of her? How do I make sure she gets in? The first thing I can tell you is...relax! It's super simple and fun! Here are 5 tips to be sure you're not stressed and have fun at a National American Miss open call: 1. Arrive Early! It's stated in the confirmation e-mail you received, but I have seen so many times where people arrive what they think is 'on time' or even worse, late.  Give yourself 30 minutes prior to start time.  When you arrive, there will be a check in station and your daughter will get a sign with her name on it. But the ease of the competition can sometimes cause a contestant to slide down a slope of performing just....eh...while the top scorers really stand out and win. Here are strategies casual wear modeling winners use. Routine . You've got approximately 30 seconds on stage, which doesn't seem like a lot, but you can pack a powerful routine in that amount of time. Don't waste it by simply walking back and forth from one end of the stage to the other. Insert pauses, turns, shifts, twirls, facials, and action into the walk. Create an actual routine, just like you would a dance. Practice it over and over to uptempo music.
